1916: THE EASTER RISING

The Easter Rising of 1916 was a seminal event in Irish history. What started as a small project for me turned into a much bigger thing. James Connolly is actually my great great grandfather, I would love to have the chance to have a long talk with him. It began with a tiny painting I’d done on a Nintendo DS and grew into something else. All the paintings were created on the ipad. The project grew into an interactive timeline where the viewer could navigate through differnt sections of the conflict, exploring the circumstances that led to the Uprising, biographies on the Leaders, visit a map of important location and how history unfolded up until the Good Friday Agreement. I believe that using illustration and animation in this way could provide more engagement, especially with younger audiences. It is my ambition to create work like this for educational companies far and wide.
